NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The CNU Heptathlon/Pentathlon came to a close today in the Freeman Center with a record breaking performance by Cheria Jackson. Jackson's score of 2,698 is not only a program best it currently ranks 50th in all of Division III.

Jackson finished first in the 60m hurdles with a 9.77 for 756 points. She also topped the competition in the long jump where she eanred 562 points with a 5.01m (16-5.25) jump. She finished third in the 800m coming in at 2:33.55 for 649 points. Jackon's 1.44m (4-8.75) in the high jump earned her a fourth place spot and 555 points. Finishing in fourth in the shot put with a score of 6.88m (22-7) earned Jackson the final 327 points for her 2,849 total.

Also earning spots on CNU's all-time list were Daulton Teaford and Enuma Ezenwa. Teaford's score of 3,827 puts him in second on the list in the Captains' first year competing in the event. Ezwenwa totaled 2,698 points improving her #3 all-time ranking for the Captains.

The Captains collected a total of 21 personal records throughout the event. They return to action on Saturday, March 3, as they travel to Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet.
